# Design

This tab's main view allows access into the Drawings and Materials sections. The "meaty" part of the project - where details are being decided, materials are being considered, and continuous progress is being made on the "blueprints" - will be housed in this tab. Click on See All to enter into the Drawings and Materials sections.

## Drawings

Within the Drawings section, users can decide how best to create Boards (or think of them as folders) to organize based on each project's needs.&#x20;

To begin uploading drawings or documents:

<div><figure><img src="/files/SxwJ30MvwaYcygp4G1wN" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click on the + sign to add a Board</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/Q7mvJNYSSn5fOE1gHewW" alt=""><figcaption><p>Name the Board and click Create Board</p></figcaption></figure></div>

Your Board is now created and you're ready to start uploading.

<div><figure><img src="/files/FD8jwuqMdXhaN01z8DKy" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click into the Board</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/CXy8b50MBIhJ0uYuxzQn" alt=""><figcaption><p>The bottom right + sign is how to add</p></figcaption></figure></div>

<div><figure><img src="/files/YkAKkoObwigyaQxlmasz" alt=""><figcaption><p>In the pop-up window, name the file, tag if you'd like, and upload from your device, cloud, or file system.</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/D72On9OfPnLH3P2jlSPX" alt=""><figcaption><p>Your file is now saved in the Board</p></figcaption></figure></div>

Once the file is saved into the Board, clicking on it will open it within its own page.&#x20;

<div><figure><img src="/files/7gZFIvArrNf3XlcezFvZ" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Tablet view</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/Q8KSEi7RT3VqbiKmYzx2" alt="" width="188"><figcaption><p>Mobile view</p></figcaption></figure></div>

Clicking the image of the PDF will open it in view-only mode.

The task bar (side for the tablet view and bottom for mobile view) offer opportunities to interact with this file by:

* mark-up - see Advanced Features to learn more
* share - see Advanced Features to learn more
* comment&#x20;
* designate it as the final version

*<mark style="color:green;">User Tip: Making comments within the file keeps the communication tied specifically to that file. You can imagine that with a large number of items to keep track of, it'd be easy within a large message chain to get confused about what drawing is being discussed. Using the comment feature here is a good way to keep conversations focused and better understood.</mark>*

## Materials

The Materials area houses three sub-sections: Material Selection, Moodboards, and Orders. From the main Design screen, clicking See All will take you to the menu of these sub-sections.

<figure><img src="/files/NxJd9d6bgmazE5Ag4nnp" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Materials Selection section is robust so let's discuss Moodboards and Orders first.

#### - Moodboards

This sections is intended to provide a place for your materials to be shown together. Click into that section with See All.

<figure><img src="/files/w2PXouNNEDQnhcjEgW8M" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here is where you can upload images of your choice - photos of selections, documents where materials are shown together, etc.&#x20;

The + sign in the bottom right corner allows you to start the upload. In the pop-up you'll be asked to name the Moodboard, provide specifications, give a link if you have an online resource to share, add tags, and upload the image / file. The only required information is the name and image / file.

<div><figure><img src="/files/xMxEcbH6haaw7JR0IOfq" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/zBFDPL5Jh4nNtnbwDP9o" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Hit Add Moodboard to save.

Viewing the Moodboard by clicking on it opens up the board to mark up, comment, share, and rate similar to the other items uploaded to CollabMind.

<figure><img src="/files/1Z9OSt4KVviZvmi1XCDP" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### - Orders

Access Orders by scrolling to the bottom of the Materials section and hitting See All.

<figure><img src="/files/4pVQc1UwXVhvH5zzlUSl" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Your Orders will appear in a list form along with its status and date uploaded. The bottom right + sign is how to initiate a new upload. Name the Order, add a descripter and link if you'd like, and upload the file or image in the pop-up. Click Add Order.

<div><figure><img src="/files/yTEAZfdajAXRRdKlGLHp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/jYwNojK8mwnucLN48RGI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Opening the order from the main Order list will bring up the usual menu options of marking-up, commenting, and sharing as well as giving the option to Change Status. Here you can designate the order as being reviewed (essentially saying the order has been reviewed and ready), paid, and delivered to site.

<div><figure><img src="/files/4tuQ4xmJ0af40Fckza2I" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/B2eUtLkjw7taEKQ1qOzK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

This staus will appear as a bubble within the item's detail view and in the Order list for quick viewing.

*<mark style="color:green;">Tip: The GC will have access to this section and knowing what orders are final, and if they've been paid and / or delivered to site will be helpful information in the Build stage as well.</mark>*

#### - Material Selection

To enter the Material Selection area, click on See All.

<figure><img src="/files/VjJF6Heo6K1ISEMJJtjs" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This section is intended to act as a collaborative warehouse where Design Professionals and Clients are able to keep track of materials being considered and selected for the project. Any user is able to access and add information here. This section is useful for both the beginning phases of making decisions but will also be a resource for the Contractor to access those material decisions and resources to additional information about those materials. So as you enter the information also consider what would be helpful to know as the project progresses.

Enter a new material by clicking on the + sign in the bottom right of the screen. A pop-up will appear.

<div><figure><img src="/files/omRyBO8RPuTsYJx3Dw7O" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/XmULK8PMDOY1ioJMNZKr" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

There is opportunity for a lot of input in this pop-up. The only requirement is the name, but consider filling in as much as possible.&#x20;

* Specification is a great place to make note of size or finish
* Link provides an easy one-click connection to the product's webpage
* Tags are useful for filtering the options. See the Tags section in Advanced Features.
* Set the Status as Pending on first upload and then change as the project flushes out.
* Upload an image for easy viewing of the material on the main page.
* Include a cost

<div><figure><img src="/files/Cm3svfnAIqY8hhUs6L4r" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/yHOxBItWEQ3ubksBkaJ0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Once an item is added you can click on it to be taken to its information page. Here the item can be rated with stars, marked-up, commented on, and shared. Clicking on the "Open in Browser" text will open the webpage for that item as entered in the upload.

<figure><img src="/files/DexahMcREa3L7Qd8aJQz" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

To change the Status of an item, from the Material Selection grid, click on the 3 dots in the right hand corner of that item.

<figure><img src="/files/Y19t347e6TjWzzCL2WgQ" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

A pop-up will appear with a Change Status button. Click to access the options.

<div><figure><img src="/files/wq0wr4B8cG0T1sltatml" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/4JPJnJLCXbmoRqAwDW18" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Once items are added, being able to sort and filter them will be useful for viewing how the items look together and decision making.

Clicking on sort will allow you to view in order of date added, cost, or rating. Touch the text for how you want to sort the items and click Apply.

<figure><img src="/files/GTSRJYKbAIf9XslTS852" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Filtering provides a few different ways to view the materials. You can see items by their status, their tag, or a combination of status and tags. Click Apply when your selection has been made and now only those items will appear in the grid.

<figure><img src="/files/QGwmFjIOzWojrKDef4ue" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In this example, the Approved items are showing - allowing the user to see how the items are coming together but also perhaps calling attention to where a final decision hasn't been made.

<figure><img src="/files/PTZJfwEz5ZSzvoFtKODL" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

*<mark style="color:green;">Tip: If your project is extensive and has a lot of materials, you may want to consider deleting the rejected materials (3 dot menu on the item image) before construction starts just to make sure the Contractor doesn't get confused during construction. The sort by Approved option exists but we know how crazy construction sites can be!</mark>*
